If you choose to arrange a shipment using Shippo’s service then we can arrange marine insurance through our broker if you request it in writing.
Marine Insurance Estimator
The cost to insure your shipment will depend on what you’re importing. Most products that we import for customers are classed by the underwriter as “Approved General Merchandise”.
If your goods are general merchandise you can use our calculator to estimate the cost to insure your shipment. All you need to know if how much you’re paying for the goods and the cost to ship them:
Marine Insurance Estimate = £ ***
* This is the amount (converted into GBP, Pounds Sterling) that you’re paying your supplier to buy the goods that will be in the shipment and covered by this policy.
** This is the shipping quote that you’ve got from Shippo to import the consignment that you’re insuring
***This estimate is based on your cargo being classified as approved general merchandise by the underwriter.
If you don’t think your goods will be classified as general merchandise but would like to take out a marine insurance policy on your shipment please let your Shippo advisor know and they’ll request a bespoke insurance price from our broker.
A full list of 2021 Cargo Policy Wording Clauses from the underwriter are available to view in this link.
