One of China’s busiest ports faced an explosion on Friday. A container exploded on the Yang Ming owned YM Mobility on Friday 9th August 2024 which has left debris scattered across the pier nearby.
A large explosion has been recorded followed by large clouds of black smoke – Chinese Port Explosion
Rescue officials have said there have been no reported casualties. Hazardous materials were on board the ship but it is unclear what these materials were.
It is thought that the clean-up of this explosion may have a knock-on effect to any shipments leaving Ningbo port. However, we have seen containers leaving the port already so it is looking like the delays are going to consist of a couple of days which is less than first anticipated.
