Once we’ve given you a shipping quote you only really need to know/do 4 things before going ahead with your shipment, once you’ve done these then importing cargo with Shippo should be as easy as pie:
Play Snap with Shipping Terms
Ensure that your supplier is offering the same shipping terms that we’ve quoted for. FOB is the most common and easiest to use.
Shipping Terms…
Understand the Jargon
There are acronyms-a-plenty in shipping. If your supplier uses a term you don’t understand just look it up in our jargon buster.
Jargon Buster…
Do your Calculations
Make sure you know all the costs you’ll have to pay when your goods land. Duties and Taxes are often more than the shipping cost.
Duty & VAT…
Check your Calendar
Make sure you know how long it’ll be before delivery. Importing from China takes around 7-10 weeks door to door!
Transit times…
OK, I’m ready to go, how do we get the goods on the water?
To get your goods on the move we’ll need the following information. Once we have it we’ll have our local agent contact your supplier and get the ship booked:
Your Company Trading Name & Delivery Address | (For the paperwork) |
Your VAT/EORI number | (if you have one, if not, we’ll help) |
The invoice for the goods | (the invoice from your supplier if you have it) |
Your Supplier’s contact details | (We’ll contact them to book the vessel) |
Special Delivery Requirements | (Standard delivery is kerbside, you can unload the truck by hand or by fork-lift) |
Will you require Marine Insurance? | (We can send you the cost if you don’t have it) |
…Now put your feet up and relax. We’ll keep you up-to-date with progress and give you an approximate delivery date as soon as the goods are on the move. You will also receive a tracking code so you can track it yourself!
