Is there an eco-friendly alternative to plastic bags for dog poo? Couple Mark and Charli said “yes” and founded ‘Bag And Boop’ which specialises in eco friendly products for dogs. The idea emerged from a combination of Charli’s dog walking business and many lovely walks in the great outdoors with their own dogs. They wanted to find an eco-friendly alternative to the dog poo bags which were sold at the time. Through months of research they discovered compostable dog poo bags.
The next stage was to find a manufacturer. It was vital to find a company that had fair working conditions for staff and knowledge of how the products would impact the environment. They found a reputable and experienced company in China. Over the next few weeks, design prototypes of the bag started to be made. When the final design was chosen and production began they needed to ensure their products would get to the UK safely. They soon discovered Shippo via a Google search. Shippo is experienced in shipping from China, reputable, had glowing reviews and an informative website that explained shipping terminology and the individual costs involved.
It was Mark and Charli’s first time shipping from China. With a global pandemic and shipping container crisis it felt like the world was against them but Shippo were calm, professional and extremely helpful throughout the entire process.
Bag And Boop compostable poo bags are now stocked in over 40 businesses either online or physical shops throughout the UK. Mark and Charli have since placed and received a second shipment courtesy of Shippo – and discussed a course of action for importing larger quantities etc.
Our goal as a company is to continue to educate dog owners on the difference between degradable, biodegradable and compostable dog poo bags and help them reduce their plastic paw print even further.
Since their initial success Bag And Boop have expanded their range and are now making dog shampoo bars and balms. Most dog shampoos are full of potentially harmful ingredients but Bag And Boop’s are chemical and plastic free. Instead, they are made of natural ingredients.
