In 2015, Arthur had an idea. Having worked in and around the interior design/installation industries for some time he spotted a gap in the market. Arthur could see an obvious requirement for a particular type of lighting structure that wasn’t on the market.
Arthur developed a fantastic product with the help of a Chinese manufacturer but had never imported anything before. “I needed to import the lightbulbs but had no idea where to start or who to contact” he recalled.
Getting the product to the UK

Once Arthur had a full understanding of what it would take to import his products it was just a case of understanding his costs. Once he knew the cost to buy the products from his supplier (he uses FOB terms), the shipping cost to his door, and the UK Duties and Taxes, he just had to press ‘GO’. The supplier started manufacturing and Shippo managed the logistics.

How’s the business progressing?
Once the first shipment had been delivered, the rest, as they say, is history. Arthur’s product is selling fantastically well and is now regularly reordering from his supplier. “I expect to have a shipment a week before too long” he predicted. “I may be a dreamer but if you have a good idea but don’t pursue it, there’s no chance it’ll be a success”
