Importing from India has never been easier.

We manage the whole process from collecting and clearing your goods through Indian customs.

You only really need to know 4 things before going ahead with your shipment, once you’ve done these then importing your goods from India should be as easy as pie.

Why Import From India?

The second most populous country in the world and a constantly growing economic force, India is a hub of manufacturing, and increasingly, technology. Located on the Asian subcontinent India is at a crossroads of international trade between the Middle East and Europe to the west and the major Asian economies to the east.

We ship to the UK from two of the country’s major cities, centres of finance, technology and manufacturing services

Mumbai

Formerly known as Bombay, Mumbai is the most commonly used port in India. Its location on the farthest western point of India means that a large number of goods manufactured in India are exported via Mumbai.

Mumbai is the business capital of India and generates 6.16% of the whole country’s GDP.

Contributing to 40% of India’s foreign trade and 60% of the total customs duty collected, the most populated city in India is recognised as an international Business hub. If you’re looking to import goods from India, the port commonly used for Mumbai is Nhava Sheva which is the biggest Indian container port. If your supplier suggests Nhava Sheva as the shipping port, don’t worry! We’ve got it covered.

New Delhi

When importing goods from India your supplier may be based in New Delhi.  We offer a service shipping from New Delhi even though the city is 1000km away from the nearest Sea.

Here’s how:

Goods manufactured in New Delhi are trucked from the local Container Freight Station to the chosen port on the Indian coast.  This is often the 1000km journey to the port of Nhava Sheva in Mumbai.

The price of importing goods from New Delhi is slightly more than importing from Mumbai as the haulage cost of getting the goods to a port is included.  If your supplier is offering shipping terms as FOB New Delhi, contact us and we will give you a quote that includes everything you need. You won’t even know about the large journey that your goods have taken to the outbound port!

We also import from:

  • Port of Chennai

Formerly the port of Madras, the second largest Indian port in the Bay of Bengal is also an available outbound port.

  • Port of Tuticorin

Newly named the V.O. Chidambaranar port. This port has been a major Indian port since 1974 and is the fourth largest container terminal in India. If your supplier is in the Tamil Nadu province, you will probably use this port.

  • Port of Kolkata

(Formerly Calcutta) – The riverine port located 126 Miles off the sea is the oldest port in India, and has been in operation for 144 years! If this ancient port is your outbound option, we’ve got it covered!

  • Other ports

Most other Indian ports. Just drop us an email or give us a call and we’ll be more than happy to help!
